GFI & Copper Manufacturing

The costs of mining copper rises each year. It takes, on average, three tons of rock and ore to produce 12 pounds of copper from mined iron ore. This process is extremely inefficient when comparing it to utilizing captured waste by products from circuit board manufacturers and metal plating companies. Filter cakes, which are considered hazardous waste, can be effectively treated and recycled and produce, on average, 200-500 pounds of copper per ton, plus a number of other precious and nobel metals. This is a much higher percentage of output compared to effort.

GFI has pioneered this beneficial type of reuse and has helped smelters reduce and recycle waste, conserving mined ore and reducing production costs. GFI has the ability to formulate and produce custom filter cake blends that meet the specific requirements for each smelter.
